Poem

Oh, the comfort --
The inexpressible comfort of feeling
safe with a person,
Having neither to weigh thoughts,
Nor measure words -- but pouring them
All right out -- just as they are --
Chaff and grain together --
Certain that a faithful hand will
Take and sift them --
Keep what is worth keeping --
and with the breath of kindness
Blow the rest away

I saw this poem today, I don't know the title of it, but fell in love with it. Inside of me is the desire to have an outlet like this, and this poem put my thoughts to beautifully flowing words. That's why I love poetry. The idea of not having to weigh thoughts or measure words, but to just pour them all right out, would be a huge comfort and relief. It's very rarely that we meet someone we feel so comfortable with that we don't have to guard our words and thoughts against them. Even with my best friends and family members, I find that their are certain topics you just don't bring up, or that you have to gear conversations a certain way. What if it were safe to talk freely? It would feel so liberating, wouldn't it?
