11 Months Old

Back by popular demand...the "Oh" Face!  All my kids have made this face at this age.

I'm about a week behind here, but Adelia reached the 11 month mark on the 3rd. Next month she'll be a year old...wow. When Lincoln was 11 months old I got pregnant with Ivan. When Ivan was 11 months old I was already 3 months pregnant with Adelia. I think this go around I'll just sit back and enjoy NOT being pregnant. :)

I mentioned that we were having some trouble with Adelia's diet, and thinking that she might also be intolerant to milk. I even took her off her formula for awhile. Good news is she's back on her formula, and seems to be doing fine. I think it's cheese that's causing the problem...Ivan has the hardest time with things like cheese and yogurt too. I'm still not 100% sure, but for now she's off most all dairy except her milk based formula, and she's eating solids and happy again. So life is good in the meal department. I've also discovered that if I fill her bottle up with about 1/3 green shake 2/3 water and shake it up, that the green shake turns into juice and she can drink it through her bottle. SWEET! Hello spinach salad for the baby. Oh ya, and she likes it. She also really likes spaghetti and rice (not together). It's funny/disgusting to watch her eat white rice because it sticks all over her. When that happens we call her Rice Monster.

Adelia climbs the stairs very confidently these days. I try not to let her do it unless I can follow right behind her, because she still makes me nervous, but I figure that the more practice she gets at it, the sooner she'll be able to do it on her own. We never did buy a baby gate. Usually if I can't be right there with her, I'll tip a banana chair over at the bottom of the stairs so she can't get to them. She has only started trying to figure out how to get back down that stairs, and that's the part that makes me nervous.

Her hair is still  curling. Yahoo! But it's getting long enough now that it's wispy/frizzy/static everywhere when she wakes up, so I have to tame it a little or she looks like an orphan. I have a love/hate relationship with that aspect of girlhood. I love to do her hair and make it look cute, but on the other hand it sure is nice that my boys can just wake up and go without needing to do anything to their hair.

Adelia has five teeth, front bottom two, front top two, and one top one off to the side. She still has rolls in her arms and legs, and it's funny because she's getting pretty tan, but then in the creases she's as white as can be. She's wearing 18mo-2T clothes, and looks best in bright colors. She's pulls herself up to things like a pro and is pretty good at walking along things. She's just recently started wanting to take steps if I'm holding both of her hands. It'll be interesting to see if she walks before her first birthday. Ivan did, Lincoln didn't.

She's also getting pretty bossy and demanding in her old age. If I'm holding her and she wants down, first she lunges herself down, and then if I still don't put her down she'll start squawking at me in very demanding baby gibberish. And if I still won't put her down, she just gets louder and starts squirming harder and harder until she's thrashing around in my arms having a little tantrum. She's the same about a lot of things, if I don't give her the toy she wants, or if I put her down when she doesn't want to be, or strap her into her car seat, or whatever. She likes to pull her brothers' hair and grab their shirts, and be involved in everything that they are doing, whether they want her to be or not.

Adelia likes toy cars and dinosaurs and Lincoln's Nerf darts. She also likes balls. She LOVES the water. Not one bit afraid of it. She likes going to big swimming pools, and playing in our little kiddie pool out back, and with the faucet when I'm trying to wash her hands off, and the bathtub, and the hose, and the sprinkler, and any other form of water she's ever come in contact with. She eats grass behind my back. And probably dirt. She sings/yells in the car when I have music playing and bounces her toes along with, and then laughs like it's the funniest thing in the world. She's gonna be a crack up, I'm sure. She already makes us laugh.

She plays really well on her own with the toys, until she gets tired, and then she crawls after me where ever I go and whines at me. And if I walk past her while she's trying to crawl to me, then she falls apart. That's how I know she's tired.

And she's pretty tough too (you'd have to be with two big brothers). Yesterday we were at the mall play area and she was crawling through a tunnel when a kid Lincoln's size tried to crawl through before she got out. He kind of tried to push her off to the side, and wasn't backing up to let her come out first and he was kind of yelling at her. Well, no problem, she just reached up and grabbed his nose and twisted it. He started bawling and ran off to his mom, and she came happily out of the tunnel. Nobody pushes Adi around I guess. :)

I'm so excited for her little birthday next month. We won't do anything fancy, but I love the first birthday, I think it's so much fun. I already have a few of her presents, and we're going to have family in town right around then, and I think I'm going to make her an elephant cake. It's going to be great.

So I think you have the girl of Emmett. They sound so much alike! Its funny for me to read about her since Emmett did everything the so close to the same. He still isnt walking. We havent had any milk issues and he just recently started to wean so I guess thats different but I want to see what would happen if the two of them ever got together :)
