Our Crew

Krystal was born and raised in Utah. Currently she is a full-time, stay-at-home Mom, and loves it! She's been homeschooling for about three years now, and really enjoys watching her kids learn new things. She is about 2 years away from getting a bachelors degree in English from BYU (so if she ever gets back to school...). She enjoys cooking and having people over for dinner. Reading, writing, and blogging are some of her favorite pass-times. She is a die-hard Mets fan. She loves sports, especially fast-pitch softball, which she played for 13 years before going to college. She hates TV, mashed potatoes, the color pink, and going to the dentist. But she is usually pretty easy going. Recently she has been trying her hand at gardening. She's happiest when she's with her family.

Krystal has lots of goals, some realistic and some not, which include: getting her degree, living on the East Coast (not permanently, just for a little while), seeing the Mets play in New York, staying in touch with extended family, traveling Europe, coaching her kids in baseball, visiting all 50 states (and not just the airports), home-schooling her kids, going crabbing on the beach (Aaron just informed me that you can't go crabbing on the beach you have to go in the water), and writing a book.

Aaron is an outdoors kind of guy. He loves climbing trees, playing Frisbee, camping, building forts, hiking, pretty much anything that gets him outside. He grew up in the North West (Corvallis, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington) where he was surrounded by beautiful scenery, plenty of trees, wild blackberry bushes, and lots of lakes and rivers. Basically a little boy’s paradise. While growing up he was home-schooled by his mom, who instilled in him a love for learning. Whether it’s school, work, or just taking something apart for the sake of seeing how it works, Aaron is always involved in learning. He’s got a good brain for math and science, and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering at BYU in August 2009 and a Masters in August 2011. He works as an algorithms engineer for a company called imSAR, which works with synthetic appature radar systems. He still has a lot to learn, but loves it so far.

Family is very important to Aaron. He loves being a husband and a dad. He can’t wait to build the kids a tree fort and teach them how to ride bikes. Aaron is definitely turning into a stereotypical dad. He likes to make sure that there is only one light on per family member home at a time, regulate how long the water can be running, and listen to talk radio. Some things you might not know about Aaron: he has an identical twin brother, he knows at least 6 jokes, someday he wants to design and build his own house, he can’t be trusted alone with a carton of ice cream, he's a sucker for web development jobs, he makes delicious oven puff pancakes, he’ll dunk his head in a tub of ice water for a dollar, he can solve a rubrics cube in less than 3 minutes, and he’s never been outside the US.

Lincoln is six years old. He loves to be involved in everything that's going on. He likes to help his dad build things and work out in the yard. He's a good little reader, and keeps me on my toes trying to find new reading material for him. Linc always wants to know how everything works. Right now he's really into super heroes, Batman being his favorite.

Like his dad, Lincoln likes to organize his day by writing lists. He loves to camp and hike and be outside. He asks endless questions, and likes to give hugs. The first things he asks me every morning is, "Where are we going today? Who are we going to see?" Lincoln is a good helper, and an awesome big brother.

Ivan Boy (as we like to call him) is four years old. He thinks he's as big as his brother, and tries to do everything Linc does. Ivan is pretty self entertained and good at keeping himself busy most of the day. He has a quick sense of humor and will often crack jokes. He loves to dance, and listen to music. His primary teachers tell me that he sings the loudest of all and knows all the words to the songs in singing time. Ivan has very expressive eyes and can pull some really funny faces (he gets that from the Swan side for sure). He knows all his letters and sounds, and is getting really good at sounding out three-letter words.

Ivan's favorite toys are the sandbox, Baby Rabbit (his stuffed animal that comes everywhere with him), trucks, his strider bike, super heroes, pirates, play dough, and his box full of beans. He likes to hike and camp and be outside. Ivan is a snuggler and a sweetheart. He idolizes his big brother and adores his baby sister.

Adelia Mae is three years old. She's a firecracker if I've ever seen one. She's very talkative, excitable, energetic, bossy, and so adorable that she melts your heart before you can get too frustrated with her stubborn independence.

She loves her baby dolls, and her brothers. She's a very talented mess maker, and likes to "do it herself!" She likes to be outside, and can't contain her excitement around dogs. She loves listening to music, and reading books if she can turn the pages. She's a big time daddy's girl. Sometimes she likes to wear skirts and play princesses, but she's also the first one to jump in a puddle and smear mud all over herself.

Adelia loves to talk, and she does it very well and at full volume. She speaks very clearly and has a large vocabulary for a three year old. And she likes to let us know what's on her mind. This one is a wild child and a free spirit, but that's what makes her so loveable.

And Oliver is the new one. I like to call him my angel baby because he is so content and happy and calm. If I had to describe him in one word, I would choose mellow. And I'm grateful for it.

Ollie is a fantastic sleeper, and was sleeping through the night consistently by about 2 months old. He's giggly and smiley and likes to talk our ears off. He was born with a ton of dark hair, but by about 4 months it had all fallen out, and now he's an egg head. But a very cute one. He's content to just be along for the ride, and we are so happy to have him as a part of our family.
