Birthday Invites

My mom came up and stayed over with us Sunday night, so that we could have all day Monday to play. Aaron had to work, but the rest of us had a wonderful time. My kids were so excited to have Gramma Tam sleep over at their house.

I vowed I was never going to have birthday parties for my kids...maybe because I always helped with my little brothers' and they seemed like such a hassle? I don't know. Anyways, I changed my mind this year and decided to let Lincoln have a friend party for his 4th birthday. We've got a lot of great kids his age in our neighborhood.

I love that his birthday is in August because it makes it really easy to throw a party. Outside and water activities, done and done. We're calling it a Splash Party. Lincoln is really into submarines at the moment. He asked for a submarine cake. I still need to figure out how I'm going to do that one...

Anyway, so my mom brought her Cricut machine down so that we could make invites for Lincoln's party. I think they turned out really cute. Some have the dolphin and some don't. I still can't decide which I like better.

We delivered the invites to his friends last night. What a hoot. I let Linc take them up to the door. Before every door I would have him practice, "Ok Lincoln, this one is to Sam, so when you go to the door, knock and when they open it say, 'This is for Sam.' okay?" "Okay!" and he'd run off. Then he'd knock on the door and ring the bell a million times (sorry, we're still working on that) and then when whoever answered the door, Lincoln would hand them the invite and then just stand there silently frozen. It made me laugh. It's kind of funny to watch your kids develop their social skills.

Linc is so excited for his party he can hardly stand it. We're going to fill up the pool and do the pool-slide combo, then I'm going to have a couple other big buckets full of water with some squirt guns to shoot and sponges to get wet and throw at each other, maybe I'll turn on the sprinkler too. And...Aaron and I have been making a submarine pinata. I'm so excited for that! It's going to be a fun party I think.
