Ivan was baptized on March 25th 2017 by his dad, Aaron Swan. Kerry Sparks and Chuck Swan were the witnesses. It was a very special day, and many of our family were able to be there to celebrate Ivan in his decision to become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
We've been helping Ivan prepare all month by spending the last few weeks learning about baptism during family home evening on Monday nights. Ivan was ready, I could tell by the big grin he wore on his face all day. Ivan isn't one for grinning, typically, so that's how I know he was feeling something special. I'm so proud of him, and I know that his having the gift of the Holy Ghost will be a huge benefit to him.
After the baptism and confirmation, we had a big luncheon with the extended family. I had wanted to do the lunch at a park, but it was raining, which meant 30+ people got to come to my house. I love having everyone together, but with that many people at my house, I feel like every corner of my house has someone in it, and then when everyone leaves every corner of my house needs to be cleaned up all over again. And that's at least a 3-day project. That's why I was pushing so hard for a park, because it's neutral space. But Mother Nature had other ideas. We had a good time talking with everyone though, and the kids are always thrilled to spend time with cousins.

My kids changed clothes too fast afterward to get a picture of everyone in their church clothes. Oh well! Love this bunch. |
