Book Review: Salt to the Sea

I didn't love it. I didn't hate it. Mostly I just felt like it was trying too hard. Trying to do too much. The chapters are very short, and alternate perspectives between the four main characters. This made it a really fast read (I read it in a day). But it didn't give me a long enough time with each character to really get to know them. The author tried too hard to be mysterious and because of that the character development felt choppy and forced. But not a bad book. I was content with where each of the characters ended up. And it was interesting to learn a bit about a piece of history I hadn't known about before (the boat). There are better WWII reads out there for sure though.
