Swan Family Christmas Card 2011
I love Christmas cards. I think if we had to cut out every other Christmas tradition, the one I'd hang onto the longest would be the Christmas card. I love writing our Christmas card, and I love reading other people's Christmas cards. The ones that get mailed to us, we hang up on the back of the front door to remind us of all our family and friends. They stay there until about February or so. :) And when I go to my mom's over the holidays, I always sit down (usually in the middle of the kitchen floor by the pie rack where she keeps her Christmas card basket), and read through every single one of her cards. Whether I know the people who mailed them or not. :) I love planning out how we're going to write our letter every year, I love designing the card, and choosing the picture to go on it. (As you can see this year I had trouble choosing just one, so we did a collage.) I don't even mind addressing all the envelopes and licking them shut.
My husband enjoys Christmas cards as well, but refuses to let me buy more than 50. He's practical like that. :) So, for those of you who didn't make the top 50 (sorry, we do have a LOT of family though), and for whoever reads this blog book in the future, here is this year's Swan Family Christmas card and letter. Enjoy. (For those of you that probably are getting one in the mail or hand delivered, you probably want to stop reading now.)
It’s the year’s end for the family of Swan
So we’ll tell you what’s been going on
We moved down to Springville
(It’s close to ‘the scene’ still)
We’re thrilled with the space and the lawn
Now Aaron is working full-time
Having no homework’s sublime
Since he’s graduated
We feel like we’ve made it
Hopefully that’s a good sign
Krystal started a book club for reading
Spent summer gardening and weeding
She stops children from fighting,
Always on the blog writing,
For buying a house she keeps pleading
Our oldest son's name is Lincoln
He likes doing his schoolwork and thinkin'
At the fun age of four
He helps with the chores
And is learning to swim without sinkin'
Ivan is thoughtful and bright
And rapidly gaining in height
He’s turning three soon
Likes to point out the moon
And loves to watch airplanes in flight
Adelia’s our one-year-old joy
She chews on all of her toys
While toddling around
Making plenty of sound
Trying to be big like the boys
We vacationed all over the state
Both St. George and Bear Lake were great!
Took the kids camping
There was no napping
But we had lots of fun, no debate
Merry Christmas, enjoy the season
Hopefully our limericks were pleasin’
Warm wishes to you
From us and our crew
Remember that Christ is the reason
Love,
The Swans
