Christmas Around the World 2011

Our home school group scored some cheap tickets to BYU's Christmas Around the World, which is put on by the BYU Folk Dance Team every year. I have always wanted to go, and this year was my first opportunity. We went to the daytime show Friday morning. I wasn't disappointed. Basically the performance was a collection of folk dances from all over the world that showed how different cultures celebrate Christmas. I took Lincoln, Ivan, Adelia, and my mom with me, and I think we all had a great time. After the performance Lincoln kept telling me that he wanted to fill our living room up with smoke so he could dance in the smoke. (A couple of the dances used fog machines.) Adelia got kind of squirmy towards the end, so I had to take her out in the hall for the last dance. But other than that everything went smoothly.

Lincoln, Gramma Tam, Adelia, Ivan, and one of the performers.

I would like to give a special thanks to my mom, who, not only actually took pictures of the event, but figured out how to email them to me as well. Good job Mom, I knew you could do it! :P

I was impressed with how talented the performers were. And I thought to myself that this is the way to use the talent of dance for good (as opposed to all the skanky half time shows that are out there), this show really welcomed the spirit and felt like a good way to celebrate the birth of the Savior. I hope we get to go again next year.
