Our ward had a Service Auction as part of our Stake Day of Service this month. How it works is, all the women in the ward were encouraged to think about their talents, and how they could use those talents to provide a service to another. Then the sister put her talents up for auction, people bid on them and the sister did that service for whomever was the highest bidder. There were some really awesome things up for auction! One woman in our ward is a lawyer, and she auctioned off to draw up a will for someone. Another lady auctioned off baskets of fresh produce from her garden once a week for the whole summer. Another auctioned off free piano lessons....and so on. So cool.
I auctioned off Science Kits.
Basically, I picked 5 projects that my kids and I have done and loved, and I gathered all the materials needed to reproduce those projects, typed up a set of instructions for each project, and put everything in a box to auction off. I made three kits, and I was pleased with how well they did. People seemed to think they were cool. :)
