Today was intense, but great. We started early with Lincoln's swim clinic. I took him, then he and I came back to the house and got Ivan and went back to the pool so that the boys could try out for the city swim team. Lincoln had no trouble. He made the team. Ivan was really nervous. He was so nervous he didn't want to try-out anymore. I told him all he had to do was his best, and that it didn't matter on way or the other. He was still really nervous, but he tried! He got in the water and swam half the distance, and then stopped and climbed out. He was crying and said he was still too nervous. I told him I was proud of him for doing something scary, and wrapped his towel around him and gave him a hug. He did not make the team, but decided that he would do swimming lessons again this year and work really hard and try again next year.
After swimming we came home and did our Saturday cleaning jobs. I am trying to teach the boys how to clean a bathroom. It is a painful process. It would be so much easier just to do it myself. Grrr...but we finally got that all done. Then I went grocery shopping.
After we got groceries put away, Aaron and I dressed everyone in their church clothes. We headed down to the Payson Temple open-house. Most of my family met us down there. Mom, Tanner, and Kerry, Kyle Kels and Abi, Tanya and her boys, Steph and Brighton.
The temple is so beautiful. It's huge! The stained glass windows were my favorite. I felt like we were rushed through though. They wouldn't let us stop and look at anything or stop to explain something to our kids, but told us to keep moving while we looked or talked. I didn't like that part, but I understand that they are trying to move a lot of people through. But I wish they had had people there explaining what the different rooms were.
It was pouring, pouring rain, so we opted not to get a picture in front of the temple. But we did take a picture in the visitor's tent.
Initially, we had planned to have a family dinner at a park afterward, but because of inclement weather, the party got moved to our house. Good thing we did our cleaning chores!
It was actually super fun having everyone over. All the cousins got a long well and entertained each other, so that the adults just had a nice time chatting. It was a really great way to kick off Mother's Day weekend.
