9 Years
We decided to postpone our 9-year Anniversary (which was on the 6th) celebration by two weeks. Aaron saw some advertisements for the Springville Art Ball put on by the Springville Art Museum, and we decided that it would be something new and different to try.
We made sure we had a baby-sitter, then we bought the tickets and I bought a dress. We were good to go...then our baby-sitter canceled. I was stressed about finding another one, because I'm not ready to leave Rue with a teenager yet, and I didn't want to impose on any of my friends with kids because we were going to be gone during bedtime, and having extra kids would just make things really chaotic for someone. It was kind of a jam-packed week anyways, and at one point I told Aaron to just try and sell the tickets and we'd cut out losses on the cost of the dress.
Thankfully though, my mom offered to let the kids come sleep over up in Hooper. Aaron drove them up there Saturday while I was at our stake Relief Society service activity. And then we had to run back up and get them Sunday morning, because my mom was speaking in church, but both Aaron and I had to be back for our callings...needless to say it was a bit crazy working out all the details, and we spent a lot on gas. BUT the kids loved having the opportunity to hand out with their grandparents, and Aaron and I had a really good time at the dance. So I guess it wall worked out. Thanks Mom, for being a saint and a lifesaver. :)
We had a few hours in the afternoon before we had to get ready, so we went shopping and bought Aaron a nice dress shirt and a new tie. Then we went to Cubby's for a late lunch/early dinner. We ran into some friends there and sat by them and had a really fun time. Then we went home to get ready.
The dance was really cool, they had so many things there to do, and food galore. There was a silent auction. They served sandwiches and fruit and salad in one room. In another room they had a chocolate fountain. In another they had "mocktails". You could go on a scavenger hunt. You could look at the art. And they had three different ballrooms with different kinds of music and different kinds of dance instruction. We chose to try out the fifties swing dancing. It was fun, but the shoes I was wearing weren't really the best, so we didn't get to dance as long as I would have liked.
Happy Anniversary husband! Here's to many more.
