The graduates walking into the Smith Field House where the college of Engineering had their graduation.
Aaron finished his thesis and was pretty much all done with his degree back in April. But it's never really official until you go to graduation right? That's what I kept telling him anyway. So, last Friday, he walked. I'm so proud of him. He's pretty darn handsome in his funny Masters Robe if I do say so myself. :)
I asked Lincoln if he thought Daddy looked like a wizard in his robe, to which Lincoln replied, "He looks like a lizard!" and laughed hysterically.
The ceremony was short and sweet, and I enjoyed it. When Aaron got his BA the only sentence I understood from the speaker was at the beginning when he told a story about how when his wife couldn't sleep at night she'd ask him to explain the projects he was working on at work, so she'd get bored and fall asleep. He then spent the rest of the time talking about his projects, maybe the engineers understood, but I don't think anyone else did. Anyway...the speaker this time did a great job, he was very interesting and spoke on a level that I think everyone could grasp. Since it's summer graduation instead of spring, there were a lot less graduates, and that was a-okay with me. We didn't have to sit and listen to names being called for very long. Aaron was one of four students receiving his master in electrical engineering. We took pictures afterward.
Our kids were pretty "done" after the ceremony, but they at least stood in for a picture. We promised them food.

I was very grateful for all the adults at graduation, my kids kept drifting back and forth from grandparent to aunts and uncles, I was actually able to listen to all of graduation.
We planned a big After Party for the graduation, complete with tiki torches and chill music. I guess there's a little bit of Stew Lemmon in all of us. :) We served pulled pork sandwiches, watermelon, corn on the cob, salads, drinks, and chips. With awesome apple crisp for dessert, made by Aaron's mom. Thank you everyone for coming, and for helping make our party a success.
The After Party was also a combination birthday party for Lincoln and Adelia, so that those family members who weren't able to celebrate with us earlier in the weeks, would be able to do so. They both got spoiled again.
So we are done with school. Did I ever think we'd get here? Not really. But I couldn't be happier. I would celebrate having Aaron's nights back....but...as previously mentioned, they just put him in Scouts. So much for that idea. :)
