Pin Cushion

Lincoln had his 9 months doctor's appointment today. He won't actually be 9 months old until Saturday, but the appointment was for today. I hate taking Lincoln to the doctor when I know he's going to be getting shots. In fact, I think I handle it worse than Lincoln does, and I'm not even the one getting poked. And because I'm a failure parent (not really, we've just been super busy, and trying to figure out our new insurance) Lincoln has gotten way behind on his shots. So, he had to have five shots today. :( Plus, because it's his 9 month visit, they also wanted to draw his blood so they could check for lead poisoning and see if Lincoln's iron count is high enough. Lincoln got three shots in his left leg, two shots in his right leg, and they drew his blood out of his arm. (Which I always thought in babies they did it from their foot.) Lincoln handled it like a champ though. I made Aaron hold him while he got his shots (I couldn't even watch), and Aaron said he didn't even start crying until after the second shot. Then he only cried for about ten seconds. Then when he had his blood drawn, I had to hold his arm straight and still for the nurse. I thought Lincoln was going to freak out, especially after just having had five shots. But he didn't. He hardly even squirmed. He just sat there and calmly watched her stick him with a needle and then the blood dripping out. By the time we were done with all that Lincoln looked like a war veteran. The rest of the appointment went really well though. We found out that Lincoln is 29 and 1/2 inches tall, and weighs 23.6 pounds. The doctor said his height is finally catching up to his weight. He's in the 87th percentile for everything (he used to be in the 97th for weight), and the doctor said Lincoln is the size of an average one year old! No wonder my back always hurts.
