It wasn't intentional, but somehow it has become tradition that we take a family picture every 4th of July. Or, maybe it's just my obsession with capturing every possible moment of our lives on camera...who knows. Either way, Tanner snapped this shot for us while we were up in Hooper. I made sure it happened about point eight seconds after we walked in the door, so that no one would have spilled food on themselves before the picture. It worked :) And this one turned out great! I think I might even frame it.
All dressed up, no place to go!
Our Fourth was good. We tried to get up early and go see the hot air balloons in Provo. And we even succeeded in the getting up early part. But when we got to Provo at the ungodly hour of 6:30AM, there was lightning so they weren't going to launch the balloons. Since we were already in the car, we just kept on going all the way to Hooper, and got there about 8:30am, in time for some amazing T-Sparks french toast!
We spent the majority of the day in H-town, hanging out with family. Aaron built the kids a hot air balloon out of trash bags, tape, string, and a plastic cup. He used a hair dryer to inflate it, but it wasn't hot enough to keep it afloat, he tried a candle too, but I don't think that worked either. But it was fun.
Mom and Kerry set up a little pool in the back yard for the kids. Between that, the sandbox, and the trampoline with the sprinkler underneath, my kids were in heaven! And they loved having Tanya's kids there to play with too.
Adelia, Lincoln, and Ivan...we forgot swimsuits but we did have swim diapers.
Graham, Burke, and Del in the pool
"Hey Gramma, who you takin' a picture of?"
As for the adults, we mostly just hung out on the deck in the shade with the babies. We're cool like that.Around lunch time we had a BBQ, hamburgers and hot dogs, and my mom's festive fruit-flag kabobs.
By then it was time to head back to Springville so we didn't get stuck in Stadium of Fire traffic. About 3 minutes into the drive it was pretty quiet from the back seat. I guess Gramma's house was enough to wear them out. And maybe getting up at 6:00am had a little to do with it too. ;)
We stopped in Centerville to see Kyle and Kels, and to meet baby Abi for the first time. She is adorable. No words can describe. And so tiny compared to the monster Ollie has turned into. It always amazes me how much they grow in just a few months. I was so busy holding Abi that I didn't take any pictures :( Next time for sure.
Once we were home, Aaron fried up some bacon, and we had the most delicious BLT's for dinner, with tomatoes from our very own garden. The best. Ollie and Del were pretty done for the day, so I decided I'd stay home and put them to bed, while Aaron took the older kids to a neighborhood firework extravaganza (aka everyone in the neighborhood gets together and lights off the fireworks they've purchased, so that a little firework money goes a long way). But before they headed out, we let the kids do some sparklers and watch some tanks, so Adelia could see some fireworks.
Adelia's first sparkler ever.
Linc is an old pro.
Waiting for Dad to get the rest of the fireworks and a lighter.
Ivan finally let me take a picture of him.
Then I went inside and put Adelia to bed, and the boys left to go do their thing. The following are pictures Aaron took at the neighborhood get together.
Happy 4th of July!!
