Aaron is Not the Only One Making Things Around Here
Aaron was out of town for a couple days last week, so the kids and I went up to my mom's to get crafty. I've been really liking subway art lately. I've seen all kinds floating around out there, but I know that it's probably a good idea to only put up one piece of Subway art per house, so I've been searching for just the right one. I saw something similar to this on Pintrest, and knew I had to make one for myself.
I bought the board and the stain at Home Depot, and stained it the night before going up to Hooper. In Hooper my mom and I did the yellow with Swan at the top (she did the stippling, I had no idea what that was or how to do it). Then we used her Cricut machine to cut out all the vinyl letters in the different sizes and fonts. It took an entire day, but I'm very pleased with it. It's going to be the main piece on the wall right as you walk in the front door. Right now it's the only piece...but eventually I'll decorate around it, and then hopefully the living room will start to feel more homey, and less like an office cubical.
(Eventually, eventually Aaron has drawn some plans to build himself a nice desk, and when that happens we'll move the desk/computer into the family room, and buy some furniture and a piano for the living room, but that's all a very long ways down the road.)
