10 Months

Adi turned 10 months. She's been as close to an angel this past month as any Swan (of the Aaron Swan variety at least) baby could possibly be. Look at her big beautiful blue eyes in this picture. Everywhere we go we get comments about her eyes. I think one thing that makes them stand out is that they always have mischief in them, just waiting for the right moment to burst out.

She's following suite...just like all Swan children, she's obsessed with cords, outlets, electronics, anything that has a button, blinking light, or uses batteries. No so much toys though. She'd much rather play with my wooden spoon, or Lincoln's flashlight, than any number of other child's play things I could stick in front of her. (And yes, that was a reference to Toy Story, for those of you who have seen it as many times as I have.) She's figured out how to open drawers, and likes the tupperware drawer especially.

She can pull herself up to most things, but has not attempted to go up the stairs yet. She is the first child I've had that will pull herself up to the side of her crib at night and then scream bloody murder because she can't get back down. My boys always just figured it out, I guess, but Adelia just stands there and screams until you come and lay her back down. And once she's laid down she seems so relieved, like it was exhausting all her efforts to just stand there and hang on for dear life. She gets down from other things during the day time, so I don't know what the deal is at night. Probably some sort of plot to sabotage my sleep.

She has three teeth. And, of course, she was a pain in the butt about having them come in too. Crank-y! The more kids I have, the worse teethers they are. I never even knew Lincoln was teething until they showed up in his mouth. Ivan was a little more cranky, but not overly. Adelia is as dramatic about teething as she is about everything else, no surprise there. I'm pretty sure I can guess why my mom only had one girl. :) DRAMA.

She's darling though, isn't she? Excuse me while I attempt to convince you that I have thee most adorable daughter on the face of the planet. Her curly hair is coming back, to my delight! It will almost always curl around her ears with no help. The top and back I have to coax with a little gel, but it's so cute all curly. For church on Sunday we even stuck one of her newborn bows in her hair. I think it added a nice touch.

This is an outfit that Grandma Swan gave her. She made the skirt, and got the shirt to match. Super cute! Adelia has Ivan's complexion, which means she looks good in just about every color, the brighter the better.

Adi loves her brothers, and I know inside her head she just can't wait until she's big enough to run around with them. She watches them so intently while they do it. She likes to be outside. And she doesn't mind the feel of the grass too much (Lincoln hated it). The only problem with having her outside is that she tries to taste test everything, so you have to watch her like a hawk. She has no qualms about sticking a piece of sidewalk chalk in her mouth, or a handful of dirt, or a dandelion, or whatever else she can get her little paws on.

She has also starting to display the Swan family trait of pulling faces. My two favorite faces that she makes are the one where she puckers up her mouth like a fish while pointing her nose up in the air (her "attitude" face), and the overly exaggerated cheese face, where she scrunches up her eyes and makes a big goofy grin. I'll have to try and get them on camera, they are so funny.

I do think she has a good chance of turning into a picky eater. There are already certain baby food that she won't touch (anything with blueberries). And when she feels like it, she likes to get a mouth full of food and then vibrate her lips so that they food goes spraying out in all directions. It's so fun to be the one feeding her when she does that, oh wait, nope.

I'm buying her 2T clothes at the moment, if you can believe it. She still fits in the 18-24 month sizes, but they fit perfectly right now, so I figure by buying a size larger she might wear her clothes for more than a month. Chunky Monkey. Now that it's (finally!) starting to warm up, we've put her in shorts a couple times, and we always get people commenting on her cute chubby legs and arms, with all their rolls. Love it.
