Adelia Mae 6 Months Today!

I'm excited to do this month's post about Adelia because it seems like this is the first month where the majority of things I have to report are positive. Not that there haven't been good things in the last 6 months, but let's be honest, it was kind of a rough 5 1/2 months or so. I don't have current height and weight stats right at this moment. Her doctor's appointment isn't until Tuesday. But I'm going to guess she's right around 19 pounds. Chub-a-lub. And I love it. I have no idea about her height. Her little blonde hair is coming in really well, and it's starting to grow on me. I rub her little peach fuzz head for good luck.

See the picture above? She's sleeping. What a beautiful site. She's been doing awesome at having a sleeping schedule. She goes to bed at the same time the boys do, around 7:30pm. This makes me so happy I could seriously cry. I love having my nights back to myself (and Aaron). It is a time for me to unwind, regroup, accomplish something, and be with my husband without fighting over which one of us is going to hold Adelia. And knowing that I'm going to have that time at night, makes it easier for me to keep going, playing, and being patient with the kids during the day.

She is still waking up 1 or 2 times in the middle of the night. Usually around one or two and then again around five or six. If she only wakes up once, then it's usualy around four. She gets up pretty regularly betwen 7-8, typically closer to the 7 side. She goes down for a morning nap around 10 and sleeps until about noon. She goes down for her second nap around 2 and sleeps until 4 ish. Typing it up makes it kind of sound like it happens like clock work. It does not. It's a lot more fluid than that, these are just generalizations. But still...the fact that I can even generalize or guess about what she might do makes my life so much easier. I love having a schedule!! It makes me feel like a real person. It makes planning events doable again. Hooray for a sleeping Adelia!

I think I've already mentioned that Adelia has been doing awesome in her carseat. It was not a fluke. She is still doing awesome. I can leave her in her seat and put her in the shopping cart when we go to stores now, and she'll play with her toys quietly. I never thought we'd see the day. Seriously. Oh! And the stroller too. I've been taking the kids for walks in the afternoons to get us out of the house. And she's happy in the stroller. It used to be that she'd scream for the entire walk if I put her in the stroller. So what does all this mean for me? It means that I pretty much don't ever wear Adelia in the baby carrier anymore. My back is eternally grateful, especially considering what she weighs.

Another wonderful blessing, she's been pretty good about playing on the floor on a blanket. Like so many other things, she used to scream during tummy time. But these last few weeks she's been doing great. I've been trying to work with her to roll over. She'd always get so close, but nothin'. Then today Aaron put her down on her back and left the room, and when he came back she was on her tummy. Little stinker! No one was even there to see her do it. So we decided to have a stake out. We put her on the blanket on her back, and then we all pretended not to watch her, while secretly watching (and video recording) her. It took her 3 minutes and 10 seconds from the time I turned on the camera, but she surely did it! Yay Adelia. Now we just need to get her to go from tummy to back. Which is funny because I think my boys both rolled tummy to back first. I guess she just likes to do things her own way. That's been the story of her life so far.

Adelia has a couple new best friends, her tongue and her toes. She plays with them all. the. time. It's so funny. If she can't reach her feet with her hands, then she just rubs them together. It makes trying to keep socks on her a nightmare though. :) And her little tongue just cracks me up. It's so long! And it has a little curl at the end of it (not in this picture though). So cute.

A new trick she's learned is how to grab your face or neck skin and rip it off your body. Ok, not really, but it sure feels like it! And she can pull my hair. So fun. Linc didn't appreciate it either, in this picture. He said, "Mom, Adelia is pulling my eyeball!"

She's a pro at grabbing toys these days. And she even likes to play with some of the boys' toys. Don't you just love her blue eyes and chubby cheeks. She's been giggling too, instead of just grunting. If you give her raspberries on her tummy or feet she laughs really hard. She also thinks sneezing noises are really funny for some reason. I don't know. But Aaron can always make her laugh by pretending to sneeze.

We switched her to soy formula awhile back to see if it would help with her spitting up issue. She still spits up. But her poop is no longer diarrhea all the time, and she isn't having multiple blow out diapers in a day anymore, so we are sticking with the soy for now. We backed off the oatmeal when she got her ear infection, because she was too cranky. And we haven't really picked it back up yet. We probably should, but I'm not really in a rush. She doesn't seem like she's starving on just formula, and once you start cereal that's just one more thing you have to plan around. (You can take bottle with you and she can eat on the go, but with cereal it gets more tricky.) So we'll get back on that one of these days.

I have people tell me all the time that Adelia looks like one or the other of my boys. So I went and found a picture of Lincoln and Ivan when they were six months old, just to see what I thought. Here they are. Adelia is on top. Ivan bottom left and Lincoln bottom right.

Not sure what my consensus is. Lincoln had a round head, and Ivan's head is more long. I'd say Adelia definitely has a rounder head like Linc. But she doesn't have as big of a forehead as Linc does, and I think her cheek bones stick out further than his. She for sure has more hair than either of them did, and I'd say thicker too. I think they all three have the same nose. And the same big blue eyes, although I think Ivan's and Adelia's are closer together while Lincoln's are further apart. They for sure all look related. But I think Adelia has her own look to her. She's not Ivan or Lincoln. Too bad I don't have any 6 month baby pictures of Aaron and I on the computer or we could compare those too.
