First Week of School in Pictures

This is one of thee coolest books I bought for this school year.

Ollie decided to be super helpful by smearing Desitin all over himself and his room.

We are using two Braver Writer programs this year, Jot It Down and The Arrow. And I'm loving both. Jot It Down has 10 month-long writing projects, that help kids get writing creatively. All the projects are easy to tier to multiple ages, so all of my kids do the same project at their own level. The Arrow uses classic children's novels for copy work and dictation passages. Grammar elements are taught within each passage. It also explains why each passage is an example of good writing, and teaches literary elements along the way. I'm totally loving it so far!

The first day we learned about alliteration. Then we had a pizza pocket and peach picnic on the porch to solidify the idea. The kids even caught a praying mantis during our picnic, haha! I love when things work out unexpectedly. :)

Picking up where we left off in All About Spelling last year.

The big boys are doing Harmony two days a week again this year. And Adelia is going to a private accelerated Kindergarten in Spanish Fork for a couple hours each morning. These are their "first day of school" pictures for those.
