3 Months Old

I'm a bit behind on this post, but Adelia turned 3 months old on the 3rd of November. The days and weeks have gone slowly, but the months have flown by. Weird how that happens. She's getting so big, yet compared to her brothers she still seems little and helpless. I wonder if she always will.

She's been my hardest baby so far. But I have my hopes up that a hard baby means an easy toddler. Ya, I'll keep my fingers crossed, but I won't plan on it. :) Her list of dislikes is still a heck of a lot longer than her list of likes. She still dislikes her car seat. In fact, dislikes is probably too mild of a word for how she feels about her car seat. And she feels the same way about the stroller. She's starting to dislike her little baby chair, maybe because she's figured out that I'm putting her down when she goes in there. And with a 3 year old and an 18 month old running around reeking havoc, it wasn't too hard to discover that she now also dislikes loud, abrupt noises. She doesn't like wet or messy diapers, and she'll let you know. She doesn't like the binkie. She doesn't like having gas. She extremely dislikes and gets upset when she had the hiccups. She doesn't like to have her hair done. She dislikes her baths.

But lets take a moment to talk about what she does like. She likes to be vertical. She likes to eat. In fact, if she's not vertical, eating, or sleeping, then guaranteed she's screaming. She likes to be in her jammies (girl after my own heart). Seriously. You can almost hear an audible sigh of relief when I change her into her jammies. She likes to smile, and is doing so more and more often. She's just started to like and be interested in toys. She likes to put them in her mouth and suck on them. So, I can also assume that she likes to be entertained. She also likes to suck her fists. She likes to come snuggle with Mommy and Daddy in bed at about 5am every morning.  She likes when her brothers talk to and play with her. When they do, it always results in smiles. She likes to sleep on her tummy. She can giggle, just barely, but I don't know if she likes it or not, because she does it so infrequently.

She's still eating well, and I'm still nursing her. Ya, I know, put that one down in the record books! Too bad I haven't discovered an inner love of nursing somewhere deep down inside. I still think it's a pain in the butt.

We still no concrete schedule other than, she'll probably take a fairly long nap sometime during the day, and a couple crappy naps as well. But there's no telling when it will be good or when it will be not so good. She's still going to bed anywhere between 10pm (rarely do we get this lucky) and midnight. But she's almost always up at 5 to eat. Hence the reason she gets to come snuggle in bed with us, because I'm too lazy/tired to get up with her, so I bring her to bed and nurse her laying down. Do I get any sleep this way, you ask? Well, I wouldn't bet your life on it. But at least I can lay down.

I love Adelia's fuzzy bedhead in the morning though. And I could probably kiss those cheeks all day, slobber or no. I'm so excited that her curly hair is still hanging on for dear life. She has one big bald spot in back, and it's thinning out on the sides above her ears, but if I put a head band on her you can hardly even see those. She's got the same big blue eyes as my boys...she's going to be a heart breaker for sure.

My friend and visiting teaching companion has an accessory business, and she made these bows and headbands and gave them to Adelia. I love them! They have a snap on them so you can change the bows in and out depending on the outfit. Anyways, she asked if she could use a couple pictures of Adelia to show what the bows would look like on a newborn, I said yes. And that's why I took all the pictures with the headbands and bows on this post (besides the fact that they're cute!) But, if you have a little munchkin in your life that needs/wants/would look cute in bows, you should check out the website Ambrey's Accessories. She's got some really great stuff on there.

But anyways, happy 3 months Adelia! We love having you in our family. May the next month bring lots of sleeping through the night, a somewhat solidified schedule, and the very best first Thanksgiving you could ask for. We love you Little Chicklet!
