Our First Imaginary Friend: Meet Ollie

The last couple of days or so, Lincoln has had an imaginary friend. The friend's name is Ollie. He's a gosling. I'm sure that the original idea for this friend came from the Olivier Dunrea books, "Ollie" and "Ollie the Stomper" which are two of Lincoln's very favorite stories. In fact, he can recite the stories verbatim while turning the pages, and even gets which lines that go with which pictures right. Anyways, in one of the books Ollie is just an egg, and then he hatches. So the other day Linc found one of our plastic Easter eggs that I had filled with pennies and glued shut. He kept saying it was Ollie, and got frustrated when he couldn't open the egg to get Ollie out. Then he just decided to pretend that Ollie had come out. Now, he holds Ollie in his hand, gives him big hugs, takes him outside with us, lets him ride the tricycle, and this morning I even had to give Ollie a bath before Lincoln would give me any peace. Linc doesn't always have Ollie with him, but he does pop up pretty frequently throughout the day. We'll see how long he hangs around.

In this video, I tried to get Linc to tell me about Ollie, but he wasn't really sure what to say I think, so it's just me asking him a lot of questions about Ollie. It's still pretty cute though.
