No, We Didn't Fall Off the Face of the Earth...

But pretty close. We just moved from Texas to Utah! And finally here we are in our Provo apartment all in one piece. Or at least, we are here and all of our stuff is here, even though it's not unpacked.

The drive was long. There's no way around that. We left at 6:00pm on Thursday the 21st. The reason we left at night was because all our stuff was already loaded into a semi-truck and on it's way to Utah and we didn't feel the need to hang out in an empty apartment all night long. Plus we thought it would be easier on Lincoln if he could sleep through a lot of it. So we started driving as soon as Aaron got home from work. The only problem with our plan was that all day long I had been puking and feeling miserable, so driving wasn't the most appealing thing. But luckily (thanks to a very helpful tip from April) we stopped at Burger King and got some chicken nuggets and a soda and after about an hour I felt good enough to travel. We made it as far as Witchita, Kansas and then stopped at a Comfort Inn for the night.

After a not so comfortable night at the Comfort Inn (I blame this on being pregnant because Aaron and Lincoln slept great), we hit the road again. The goal was to get all the way to Hooper, Utah by the end of the day, but as we came upon Rawlings, Wyoming and it was 10:00pm and Lincoln was screaming and I wasn't feeling well, there was no way we were staying in the car another 3-4 hours just to make it to Hooper. Aaron agreed, and we stayed at a Travelodge Best Western. It was such a nice place and we all slept really well. Oh! But a hilarious thing happened to us between Witchita and Denver. We just happened to go the same speed as, and stop at a lot of the same rest stops as these two brand spanking new cars that were all decked out in "Democrats for Congress" and "Obama 08" stickers, which we figured were headed to the Democratic National Convention in Denver. So, being the political activists that we are, Aaron and I used the back of our map and the green Sharpie Aaron still had in his pocket to make our own little sign that said "Citizens for Republican Congressmen" and I held it up when we drove by. We thought we were so funny.

Anyways, a night's sleep and a free breakfast did us worlds of good, and we hit the road again Saturday morning. When we crossed from Wyoming into Utah I vowed I we would not have to make another bathroom stop and I would hold it until we got to my parents house. Fat chance. My "iron bladder" that we of the Lemmon family are known for failed me in my weakened pregnant condition, and 20 minutes later I was begging Aaron to pull over the first chance he got. We finally made it to Hooper. It felt so good to be home (sort of home at least). It was wonderful to feel a cool breeze and to have the tempurature drop in the evening and stay cool all morning so that I could take Lincoln outside to play. And of course it was great to be at my mom's house where she pampered us like we were still little kids that lived under her roof. She spoiled Lincoln rotten too. And I'll tell you, after our trip I didn't mind one bit. Thanks Mom, you are the best.

That's not the end of our story, as we did eventually make it to our apartment in Provo. But this is the end of my telling of this story, because I am tired and want to go spend some time with my husband. So I will continue another day with our Provo adventures. Until next time.

I too have missed hearing from you via blog, but I was very glad to hear you made it safely. We went to Houston this weekend to be with Wes' family, but were hurried out the door with worries from "Gustav" in our minds. Isn't Tx great!?!
We miss you tons!

I'm so glad you guys made it back to Provo in safety. I am also glad that my little tip helped (give credit to Brian's mom for that one). Krystal you remember how I told you that I was finally putting Isaac's things in our bedroom and that he would come once I was done with that. Well, it happened just like that. I finished on Thursday and Friday morning he came. I guess I should be grateful he was watching and waiting until we were actually ready for him. Hope Provo is treating you well. I miss our morning walks.
