Birthday Suit

This kid, what a crack up! :) For her birthday she wanted "real" swimming stuff, and since she had swimming lessons this morning, it seemed fitting to let her open it in the morning so she could test it all out. So here we have a birthday girl in her birthday suit. ;)

I was feeling bad, because we didn't really have any big, exciting activities or things to do planned for her birthday. Aaron had to work, and I'm too pregnant and tired to attempt a major outing by myself. I decided what I could do for Adelia today was to spend quality time with her. I let her skip quiet time, so that just the two of us could make her birthday cake together. She wanted a "Sparkle Under the Sea Cake" with a mermaid on top.

Then we picked some flowers from the front yard and tested out her new Microfluer flower drier. It dries flowers in the microwave and then you can use them for art projects. I showed her how to use Mod Podge to stick her flowers to some cards. If she really likes it, then at some point we'll make a bigger, more traditional flower press out of wood. But for right now I figured this practically instant drying method would hold her attention the best. We also drew pictures of horses and girls on her new light-up tracing pad. I had something similar when I was a kid and had hours and hours of fun tracing all sorts of things. Del got the hang of it quickly, and I think she'll love it.

Ivan drew Adelia an awesome picture for her birthday. She was so excited to hand it on her wall.
For dinner she picked to have Haystacks and cantaloupe. Then we had cake with strawberry cheese cake ice cream from the BYU Creamery. We'll continue the celebrations with both sets of grandparents on Sunday afternoon.

I can't believe my big girl is SIX! She was Ruby's age when we moved into this house. And for some reason that's making me feel really old and a bit nostalgic. Here's a trip down memory lane.
