I did manage to get a picture of the kids in their 4th of July t-shirts. |
 |
Adelia asked for a hair-do that was "new and fun and fancy". This is my attempt to be patriotic. |
 |
Everyone else's 4th of July shirts from last year still fit them, except Del's. So I took one of her white t-shirts, and quickly made this T for her with some red and blue paint I had on hand. I like how it turned out. |

Is there anything cuter than patriotic baby toes? |

Lincoln and Ivan |
Our Fourth of July this year was very low key. Lincoln was recovering from a sore throat and pink eye, that he'd picked up at Cub Scout Day Camp the Wednesday before. Ollie and I had caught it from him on Saturday afternoon, and all three of us plus Rue had stayed home from church on Sunday. Rue wasn't sick, there's just no point in taking her to church and having her miss her nap if someone is staying home anyways. Several kids got up for various reasons Sunday night, which left Aaron and I too tired Monday morning to get up early and put our hiking plans into action.
So we stayed home most of the day, which was probably for the best. I don't think Ollie was feeling all the way up to par, because he asked to take a nap, which never happens. He was so cute too because he asked if he could sleep in his "tree room", as he calls it. There isn't a bed in there yet, so I got out the sleeping mat we keep under our bed for when kids come in in the middle of the night, and I set that up for him. He was out like a light in a couple minutes, bless him.
Aaron kept the other kids busy by doing an American flag art project. It was to scale and everything. Pretty awesome. I'll have to get him to post the pictures of it, they're all on his phone. I worked some more on sanding down the changing table. I ended up having to take it apart, so I can sand each piece individually. Then I'll put it back together and stain it.
In the afternoon we did go over to Aaron's parents house for a BBQ. Aaron's sister Stacey and her family, and Aaron's brothers Ryan and Kelly and their families were there. Plus Aaron's Aunt Karen, and his Uncle Richard. The food was excellent, as usual. And it was fun to get out of the house and chat. The kids enjoyed running around with their cousins.
We came home and put Ollie and Rue to bed. (Which was probably for the best, because Ollie woke up the next morning with pink eye.) And then we went outside to light some fireworks. Stacey and fam came over too. The kids enjoyed the sparklers and the pop-its, but I think they liked the glow-sticks the best. Haha!
