Midnight

We adopted this fish from some people in the ward who wanted to get rid of him. The kids named him Midnight. We now have 9 pets.

I Walk My Dog at Daybreak

I walk my dog at daybreak,
and again right after school.
It's often inconvenient,
but I'm sticking to the rule.
I feed the fish and parakeets,
my hungry cats as well,
then tidy up the litter box
before it starts to smell.

I tend to all the rabbits,
turtles, gerbils, frog, and snake,
and clean the little messes
they inevitably make.
The finches' cage needs freshening,
especially the tray,
and then there are the elephants--
I'm giving them away.
