May is the Month of Lincoln
Apparently, May is the month of Lincoln. Haha! He's got his play coming up in a few day, and he's been having twice-a-day practices for it. And he also has his piano recital at the end of the month.
Lincoln has the best piano teacher around. She is seriously so cute and so good with the kids. She makes it fun, but also makes sure they know their stuff. Lincoln set a goal to practice 400 minutes before his recital, and since we missed a few days for our Goblin Valley trip, he's been working extra hard (practicing 40-60 minutes a day) to catch up, because he is super motivated to reach his goal. If he does he gets a gold medal. And he is really set on getting it. He also has to take a theory test. His teacher said that the younger students haven't covered a lot of the material that's in the theory test, but she gives all her students an opportunity to take it. If they pass it with a 90% or higher, they get a trophy. She gave me a copy of a practice test, and Lincoln and I spent a lot of time (motivated completely by Lincoln, who wanted to take it again and again) going over it and learning the things he hadn't learned in his lessons yet. He took the test this afternoon and after a quick glance at it, his teacher said it looked like he only missed 3! She'll sit down and do a hard grade of it before the recital. But it's looking like Linc is going to get his trophy. I'm proud of him, and so is his teacher. She was impressed with the work Lincoln had put in to meet his goal of passing the test.
And since I got to help him through it, I now feel confident that I could pass a beginning piano theory test. :) Which I definitely wouldn't have been able to do before. See, you learn new things every day!
