A Day of Creation

I'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty proud of this. This is without questions the hardest sewing project I have ever attempted. (Don't be too impressed, I've only been sewing a little over a year, and I'm teaching myself. Today's big challenge: sewing around a curved corner.) My step-sister Tanya is due in November with little baby Graham. Her baby shower is Saturday, so I thought I'd probably better get started on her present. It consumed my life today. My kids were ignored. My husband had to beg me to make dinner. But by golly, it is finished.

I got the idea from my sister-in-law, Sydni. She made us a similar car seat cover for Ivan when he was born. The one she made is definitely better, I have a lot of practicing to do before I come anywhere close to her sewing skills. But, I am pretty proud of myself for how well this one came out. Ribbing is a lot trickier than it looks. I sort of had a pattern, but it wasn't very clear. Between that and Ivan's I managed. I'm really excited to give it to Tanya. I hope she likes it. I also hope she isn't reading my blog. :)

Such a talent! My goal when I graduate is to have my mom teach me how to sew. It's a lost art :-)
